About Horizen

Horizen is a privacy-focused blockchain project that launched in 2017 as ZenCash, a proof-of-work chain derived from Zclassic that offered shielded transactions and a distributed node network. It later pivoted toward zero-knowledge infrastructure with the Zendoo sidechain protocol and the EON smart-contract sidechain. With Horizen 2.0 the project changed direction again, relaunching as an Ethereum-aligned Layer 3 appchain deployed on Base and focusing on privacy-enhancing technologies such as zero-knowledge proofs and trusted execution environments. ZEN is the network's native token and is now issued on Base among other networks.
